Grand Marshall - Festa Italiana 2008

Jeanette (Jan) Perno Fenty was born in Buffalo, New York.   Both her parents emigrated to Buffalo from Monte San Giovanni Campano, in the region of Lazio, in the early 1920's.   Jan's mother's maiden name was Bianchi.   Jan went to Buffalo State Teachers college and graduated in 1966.   She married her husband, Phillip Fenty in 1967, and that year moved to Washington, DC.   She has two sons, Adrian and Jesse and one step-son, Shawn.  She also has four grand-sons.   In Washington, DC, Jan was a Special Education teacher for 15 years.   In 1984 she and her husband opened up Fleet Feet Sports Shop in Adams Morgan, which they continue to own.
